ServicesTree Trimming and Removal
Tree Trimming and Removal in Casselberry
We prune oaks, pines and shade trees with clean cuts at the branch collar, clear limbs off your roof and take down trees that can no longer be saved. Before any saw starts, we walk your property and tell you which trees need work and which do not.

Pruning that protects the tree, removal when it cannot
Most trees around your home need trimming, not removal. A laurel oak with a few dead leaders over the driveway or a live oak dragging limbs across the shingles can usually be corrected with targeted cuts. We remove deadwood, reduce end weight on long horizontal limbs and raise the canopy for clearance, taking no more than the tree can handle in one visit.
Removal is the right call when the trunk or root plate has failed. Common causes here are heart rot in aging laurel oaks, fungal conks at the base, lightning damage and root loss from old construction or a high water table. In sandy soil, a tree with a compromised root system can tip in a strong summer storm even when the canopy looks healthy.
We have been doing this work since 2018, and we give you a straight answer on each tree, with photos of what we found.
What tree work includes
Deadwood and hazard limb removal
Dead branches are brittle and fall without warning in wind. We remove them back to live wood so the tree can seal the wound.
Roof and structure clearance
We cut limbs back from the roofline, screen enclosures and siding. Branches rubbing a roof wear the shingle granules, and overhanging canopy keeps the roof damp and holds leaf litter.
Crown thinning and end-weight reduction
Selective thinning lets wind pass through the canopy instead of loading it like a sail. We avoid stripping the inner branches, a practice called lion's tailing that pushes weight to the tips and makes limbs more likely to snap.
Sectional tree removal
Where there is no room to fell a tree in one piece, we take it down in sections with ropes and lowering gear, controlling where each piece lands.
Haul-off and cleanup
Brush is chipped, wood is cut and hauled, and we rake and blow the area. If you want the stump gone too, our stump grinding service handles it, and palms are covered under palm tree pruning and removal.
Signs a tree needs attention
Mushrooms or conks at the base
Shelf fungi on the trunk or root flare usually mean internal decay. The wood may be hollow behind bark that looks normal.
Cracks, splits or a weak fork
A V-shaped fork with bark pinched inside the joint, called included bark, is a common failure point in storms.
A new lean or heaving soil
A tree that has started leaning, or soil that lifts on one side of the trunk, points to root failure. This one needs a look soon.
Bare or dead upper canopy
Thinning leaves and dead tops in an oak often follow root damage or decay. A partial die-back can sometimes be pruned out, sometimes not.
Limbs on the roof or near service lines
Branches touching the roof or crowding the line to your home should be cut back before hurricane season, not during it.
How a tree job runs
- 1
Free on-site walkthrough
We look at each tree with you, check the trunk, root flare and canopy, and photograph any decay or defects. You get a clear recommendation: prune, monitor or remove.
- 2
Written estimate and permit check
Your estimate lists each tree and the work on it. Many Central Florida cities regulate removal of certain trees, so we check the rules for your address and tell you up front if a permit or documentation is needed.
- 3
Setup and protection
We plan drop zones away from your house, pool cage and irrigation heads, and lay down plywood where equipment crosses the lawn.
- 4
Cutting and lowering
Pruning cuts are made just outside the branch collar, never flush and never leaving stubs. Heavy limbs are roped and lowered rather than dropped.
- 5
Cleanup and final walk
We chip brush, haul wood, rake the beds and walk the yard with you before we leave.
What affects the cost of tree work
Every tree is priced on site after we see it, because two trees of the same height can be very different jobs. The biggest factors are how the tree can be cut and what sits underneath it. If you are taking on a bigger project, such as several removals at once, you can finance as much as $100,000, choose a repayment period anywhere from 2 to 12 years and pay it off early without a penalty.
- Size and species
- A mature live oak has dense, heavy wood and a wide spread, so it takes more time than a pine of the same height.
- Access and targets
- A tree over the roof, pool enclosure or fence has to be taken down piece by piece with rigging. Open yard space with a clear drop zone costs less.
- Condition of the wood
- Decayed or storm-damaged trees are unpredictable to climb and cut, which adds rigging and time.
- Debris and stump
- Hauling all wood, leaving firewood or adding stump grinding each changes the total.
Tree trimming and removal questions

When is the best time to trim trees?
For oaks and most shade trees, the drier months from late fall through early spring are ideal, since growth is slower and storms are fewer. Clearance work should be done before hurricane season starts in June. Dead or hazardous limbs can be removed any time of year.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree?
It depends on the city, the species and the trunk size, and some cities protect larger specimen trees. Florida law also allows removal of a residential tree that a qualified professional documents as a danger. We check the rules for your address during the estimate and explain what applies.
Will heavy trimming make my tree safer in a hurricane?
Not if it is done wrong. Removing too much inner growth or topping a tree creates weak regrowth that breaks easily. Proper thinning and end-weight reduction let wind through the canopy while keeping the tree healthy.
Can you save a tree with some decay?
Sometimes. Decay in a single limb can often be pruned out. Decay in the main trunk or root flare usually cannot, and we will tell you plainly when a tree has reached that point.
Do you grind the stump after removal?
Yes, if you want it gone. Stump grinding is quoted as part of the same estimate so you know the full scope before work starts.
